Australia had a flourishing silent movie market in the early 1900s and made few of the world’s first movies like Soldiers of the Cross in 1900 and The History of the Kelly Gang in 1906. But with the advent of Hollywood movies, the Australian Movie Industry declined. However, it picked up around the 1970s when the Australian Government helped financially to get the movie industry going.
